As a Senior Procurement Consultant in our team, you will be accountable for leading, developing and the  delivery of key category strategies to further develop Vendor of Record Arrangements (VORs).  The category strategy aims to meet the growing needs of OPS (Ontario Public Sector) and BPS (Broader Public Sector) users under the Supply Ontario mandate. 

Your primary work will involve providing strategic and technical procurement advice in support of OPS and BPS client users on their large and complex procurements needs.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and coordinating high value categories, supply chain and procurement services
  • Acting as resident category manager, supply chain and procurement expert to staff, management and OPS/BPS clients
  • Assessing strategies and procurement requests for complexity, and strategic optional approaches
  • Providing leadership in simplifying category strategies and procurement operations to enhance the clients’ experience
  • Collaborating with senior management to review and provide strategic input for delivering business outcomes that offer high value OPS and BPS client procurements, and enhanced Enterprise VOR Program services

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following:

Category Management, Procurement & Planning Expertise:

  • Strong category management and procurement skills to lead government wide Enterprise VOR Arrangements and assigned initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and clients
  • Advanced knowledge of public and/or private sector procurement policies, trends and performance measurement tools to add value for clients
  • Ability to lead the development of specifications and evaluation criteria to guide clients in meeting their business goals while managing risk
  • Knowledge of category management and strategic procurement planning
  • Expertise in a variety of innovative procurement approaches
  • Advanced analytical skills to quickly evaluate client needs and to develop options
  • Ability to identify opportunities to improve client service and value.
  • Strong analysis skills to analyze policy issues and develop corporate category and procurement recommendations

Leadership Skills:

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, steering committees, working groups and partnerships with OPS/BPS and suppliers.
  • Ability to promote customer-driven business and lead staff in building stakeholder relationships and engaging clients with tact and diplomacy
  • Strong organization skills to effectively respond to frequent unexpected and conflicting work demands and changes in priorities
  • Ability to respond to occasional tight time pressures and requests for information from senior executives

Consultation, Customer Centric Service & Partnership Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills to brief executives and provide advice to OPS and BPS clients, staff and management
  • Ability to negotiate and provide mutually beneficial outcomes across stakeholders and vendors
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients and staff
  • Proven consultation skills to build effective partnerships and pro-actively manage risks and to resolve issues
  • Ability to advise clients about procurement policies and share alternate perspectives and considerations as a subject matter expert in the leadership of public sector procurement strategy

Supply Ontario offers a competitive compensation package including benefits and defined benefit pension plan.

The selected candidate will be required to reside and work in Ontario and be legally eligible to work in Canada.

This job offers the opportunity to work from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement; at the time of posting, this position would require in-office presence 3 days per week, based on current operational requirements.
