Procurement Consultant

As a Procurement Consultant in our team, you will be accountable for managing a portfolio of multiple Vendor of Record Arrangements.  These are enterprise-wide across the Ontario government, but also available to   users across the public sector, and cover a variety of goods and/or services.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Leading analysis and advice on supply and market issues, business practices, category management and contract management processes
  • Providing subject matter expertise on specific categories, commodities, services and anticipating future needs
  • Supporting senior staff in categories and procurement strategy development, including continuous improvement projects
  • Contributing to planning, development and implementation of procurement operational policies, procedures, best practices and guidelines
  • Building and maintaining business relationships with buyers, suppliers and broader public sector stakeholders including resolving arising issues

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following:

Procurement & Contract Management Knowledge:

  • Ability to interpret and apply knowledge of category management, purchasing and contracting policies, procedures, and contracts.
  • Knowledge of supply market, potential partners and service providers to advise clients in the development and administration of RFXs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of stakeholder liaison and contract management to provide contract management expertise and to coordinate the administration of contracts
  • Knowledge in developing and evaluating supplier key performance measures
  • Drive effective vendor management liaison and relationships as the single point of contact

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Ability to analyze trends in goods and services and advise on supply and market issues, and changing client needs
  • Skilled at interpreting contracts, policies and assessing supplier performance
  • Ability to mediate and resolve vendor and supply chain issues or risks

Project Management Skills:

  • Ability to coordinate the operational administration of contracts, agreements and supplier contracts
  • Proven experience in leading categories and commodity needs assessment working groups and procurement related projects
  • Strong organizational skills to be able to manage multiple activities and meet deadlines

Client Centric Service & Relationship Management Skills:

  • Ability to develop and maintain contract user guides and performance measurement related materials.
  • Strong relationship building/management and the ability to develop stakeholder partnerships
  • Demonstrated ability to advise clients about contract details, processes and services
  • Proficient at preparing briefing notes and materials
  • Strong mediations skills with the ability to resolve contract management issues

Supply Ontario offers a competitive compensation package including benefits and defined benefit pension plan. 

The selected candidate will be required to reside and work in Ontario and be legally eligible to work in Canada.
