Supply Ontario and OBIO® to drive procurement of Canadian-made innovative healthcare solutions

October 2, 2025 (Toronto, ON) – Building on the launch of Ontario’s new Health Innovation Pathway, Supply Ontario and OBIO® have come together to support public sector buyers’ procurement of innovative Canadian healthcare solutions to meet the evolving needs of Ontario healthcare providers.

Through this collaboration, Supply Ontario and OBIO® will work together to identify and drive procurement of innovative technologies in Ontario’s healthcare and public sectors. By focusing on Canadian-made products and solutions that align with provincial healthcare priorities, this partnership not only supports the needs of healthcare providers but will also boost local economic development and build a more resilient, responsive and self-sustaining supply chain.

Founded in 2009 as a membership-based not-for-profit organization that engages in strategy, programming, policy development and advocacy, OBIO® focuses on capital access and market adoption, skills development and training, and infrastructure support to build the life sciences and health tech industry.

With a mandate from the province to centralize and modernize public sector procurement in Ontario, Supply Ontario brings a whole-of-government approach to reducing procurement barriers for innovators to improve supply chain resiliency and healthcare delivery for all Ontarians.

Together through the Health Innovation Pathway, Supply Ontario and OBIO® will drive the following outcomes:

  • Enhance access to innovative Canadian healthcare solutions to better meet the evolving needs of healthcare providers and patients.
  • Strengthen relationships with Ontario’s healthcare organizations.
  • Increase capacity to drive economic development and domestic supply chain resiliency through the procurement of innovative technologies in Ontario.

“When we use the purchasing power of government to address local needs, we’re putting Ontario first. It’s a win-win: we get better outcomes for people, drive innovation, and help our businesses grow. That’s what protecting Ontario is all about,” said Stephen Crawford, Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement.

“Ontario needs innovative healthcare technologies to address and meet the demands of the future,” said Jamie Wallace, CEO of Supply Ontario. “This collaboration with OBIO® is a tremendous opportunity to further our mandate by providing easier access to healthcare solutions that address these challenges, all while supporting home-grown innovations, our economy, and a more resilient supply chain.”

“Canada’s health science innovators are developing groundbreaking solutions to improve patient care and health system efficiency. Our partnership with Supply Ontario is a pivotal step in building a sustainable, innovation-driven healthcare ecosystem in Ontario,” said Dr. Maura Campbell, President and CEO of OBIO®. This collaboration will accelerate the adoption of made-in-Canada technologies supported by our Early Adopter Health Network (EAHNTM), and provide our healthcare organizations with access to the best tools to foster economic growth and supply chain resilience.
