Supply Ontario expands access to Made-in-Ontario innovation for Ontario’s health sector

KiteLock 4% Sterile Catheter Lock Solution

TORONTO, ON — Supply Ontario is pleased to announce a contract with SterileCare Inc., that enables public sector entities across Ontario to access its innovative KiteLock™ 4% Sterile Catheter Lock Solution, used with central venous access devices. The contract provides hospitals and other public sector healthcare organizations with a simplified procurement pathway to acquire KiteLock™ 4%through Supply Ontario’s established terms and conditions. By reducing administrative burden and procurement timelines, the agreement helps organizations focus on delivering better outcomes for patients and communities. Supply Ontario’s work connecting home-grown innovators in the health-care system is part of Ontario’s Health Innovation Pathway and is supported by our partnerships with the CAN Health Network and OBIO.

KiteLock™ 4% is a non-antibiotic antimicrobial sterile catheter lock solution used with central venous access devices, commonly known as central lines. It is intended to maintain catheter patency, to keep the line open and functioning, and to decrease the risk of bacterial colonization and biofilm formation within the device that can lead to life-threatening infections.

Reliable central-line function is important for patients who depend on these devices for treatments including dialysis, chemotherapy, intravenous medications and nutrition.  Where line occlusions and related complications are reduced patients may require fewer additional medications or procedures associated with restoring or replacing a central line or treating bloodstream infections. These potential benefits may also support more efficient use of healthcare resources.

For participating organizations, the agreement provides a common procurement pathway and access to product education and implementation support.
